The site, on which our village hall stands, was bequeathed to the residents of Stoke Row in 1914. The donor required the villagers to construct “a room for the purpose of any recreation which the Trustees in their discretion may think desirable.” (Quoted from “The Indenture”.)
Over the years, the Village Hall has extended its facilities. It has a kitchen and access for the disabled. The recently-replaced wooden floor area, approximately 1,000 sq. feet, including a stage, is suitable for dancing and drama productions. It is the venue of Parish Council meetings and the Polling Station during Election times.
Darts competitions, jumble sales, bingo, Scrabble evenings, organised talks, club meetings, barn dances, private and children’s parties are among the many and varied activities that take place in our Village Hall.
Our Village Hall is fully licensed for Public Entertainment and is a member of the Performing Rights Society. Moreover, it has its own car park.
