Stoke Row Club was formed in late 2002 as a Limited Company with Charitable status with the objective of making the Sports and Leisure facilities of the Recreation Ground and new Pavilion available to as many people as possible in Stoke Row and its environs. The Company was established by merging the long standing Cricket and Tennis clubs with Stoke Row Sports Association. Based on the idyllic 7 acre, Village Recreation Ground, accessed from Newlands Lane, the Club benefits from a superb new Pavilion. This opened in May 2000 and was funded by a substantial number of donations from villagers together with grants from the lottery fund, Sport England and SODC.
The Club offers members access to two hard tennis courts with group coaching, club evenings, senior and junior tennis tournaments, a senior cricket team with coaching, guided cross country cycling, a running club, a racing club, table-tennis and occasional social events throughout the year. The Pavilion which offers versatile accommodation with excellent changing and kitchen facilities is available to hire on an hourly basis for a variety of needs. It is an excellent location for children’s birthday parties.
The membership has grown healthily over the last few years and new members young and old are welcome. The Club’s philosophy is to be as accessible as possible by keeping subscriptions low with family membership currently at £85 per annum. This is achieved by enormous voluntary support given to maintaining the Recreation Ground and facilities as well as Gift Aid donations made by members and Club Patrons on an annual basis.
